Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic there may be times during the academic year when our pupils cannot attend school. For example, a child may be absent because they are awaiting test results and their household is required to self-isolate, or, whole class or bubbles may not be permitted to attend school because they, or another member of their class or bubble have tested positive for COVID – 19.

At Knowsley Central School we understand how important it is to try and maintain a routine and consistency for our children.

We have extensive plans for the provision of remote education where needed to ensure that the small number of children that need to be educated at home are given the support they need to continue learning.

If a child is asked to stay at home work will be provided, this will be in the form of work packs and online learning using Tapestry and SeeSaw. We have also produced a number of videos for parents to use as guidance to help maintain the same structure and routine to learning at home as the children experience in school.

Remote education, where needed, is of a high quality and aligns as closely as possible with in-school provision.

We are also very aware that while children are at home parents may still be expected to work themselves or be looking after siblings and this can make circumstances very challenging. With this in mind we will ensure that activities are well suited to our pupils needs and levels of independence and while we look forward to seeing any work or activities completed there is not an expectation that all activities will be completed.

In addition to this staff will call parents on a weekly basis to offer further guidance and support, either when in school or from a withheld number. All pupil and parent contact will be within the normal working school day. Staff will keep a log of all parent contact.

  • If any parents are experiencing any IT issues, please contact your child’s class teacher in the first instance.
