British Values
All schools have a legal duty to promote British Values. At Knowsley Central we develop and promote British Values throughout our school and within our curriculum.
We recognise ‘The Five British Values’:

Through our school curriculum we support pupils at their level of understanding to focus on:
Friendship
- tolerating others through play, interactions, communication.
Appropriate behaviour and Self-Regulation
- through clear instruction, understanding of child development, making appropriate choices, social stories, visual aids, through use of zones of regulation, sensory circuits, cosmic yoga, brain breaks.
Understanding right from wrong
- through rewards, adults and peers modelling positive behaviour, providing strategies for pupils to understand how to defuse from a situation. Using appropriate behaviour, communication and language.
Awareness of self
- through PSHE curriculum, Behaviour for Language, recognising and celebrating achievements to build pupils self-esteem and help them to gain confidence.
Teach pupils manners and kindness
- through modelling, directing and guiding, so that children learn to respect each other
Learn about different cultures, religions and traditions
- through, P.S.H.E, R.E, accessing the wider community and taking part in cultural days.
