Apple
Welcome to Apple
Within Class Apple, we have 11 pupils and 4 adults: Laura (class teacher), Kaitlyn (TA), Melissa (TA) and Maria (TA). We are a busy and active class and we are currently working on the pre-foundations pathway which focusses on differentiated early years outcomes. One of the key focus’ within our curriculum is developing our children’s language and communication skills in addition to sensory Integration, forming positive relationships and developing play skills.
We provide a varied approach to language development by following a total communication approach and by giving pupils opportunities to achieve their targets throughout the school day.
We prioritise the wellbeing and sensory needs of all individuals and ensure they are being met daily and best supported in order to learn and develop new skills. Our sensory and immersive rooms around school provide excellent spaces to relax and engage in new experiences.
We follow a play-based approach to learning, which builds upon the children’s interests and engagement and responds to their individual ideas. Our structured, adult directed activities allow us to teach specific skills and meet specific needs, through individualised activities and 1:1 and small group teaching. We also enjoy interventions such as Attention Autism, circle time and Intensive Interaction.
We spend a lot of time learning outdoors, exploring the environment and being active. Our weekly PE sessions are also great for physical development.
