The school has a very experienced Governing Body, with a strong core of long serving members, who know the school very well and have a high profile in the school. We recently welcomed a new parent governor to our Governing Body membership who is keen to get started and will begin her governor’s induction programme. The parent governors are keen to represent the parents of Central.
Governors are very supportive towards staff and the school; they take a keen interest, reflected in good attendance at meetings, school events and a strong involvement in staff recruitment and selection.
Governors also ensure they are well informed about student views through their contact with the school council, the work of the Quality of Achievement and Personal Development, Behaviour and Safety committees that provide a productive platform for pupils to express their views.
The Governing Body has implemented its committee structure with focussed governor sub-groups where governors robustly monitor and evaluate aspects of school life, such as finance, safeguarding, standards and curriculum. The Governors recently completed full Governing Body training, a review of the Governing Body and a Skills Audit which was facilitated by an external Governor Support Officer. In considering the analysis of the results with the Governor Support Officer, the Governors have taken the decision that they will be reconstituting the Governing Body and seeking Governors with identified skills to fill the vacancies.
