The school has a very experienced Governing Body, with a strong core of long serving members, who know the school very well and have a high profile in the school. We recently welcomed two new parent governors to our Governing Body membership. Both parent governors are keen to get started and have begun their governor’s induction. They are keen to represent the parents of Central. They are planning to meet and hold surgeries to support parents and families of our school and represent their views to the Governing Body.
The School Improvement Partner Report fully supports the school’s judgement of governance as outstanding. The report highlights the considerable strengths of the Governing Body, particularly their high levels of expertise and knowledge of the school which enables them to provide high challenge and support. Governors are very supportive towards staff, they maintain high visibility and take a keen interest, reflected in high attendance at school events and strong involvement in staff recruitment and selection.
Governors also ensure they are well informed about student views through their contact with the school council, their involvement of pupil’s school evaluation and the work of the Quality of Achievement and Well-being, Behaviour and Safety committees that provide a productive platform for pupils to express their views.
The Governing Body has revised its committee structure to focussed governor sub-groups where governors robustly monitor and evaluate aspects of school life, such as finance, safeguarding, standards and curriculum.
